Are Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra really fighting over the actress constantly spending money? That's the story in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can set the record straight.

According to Life & Style, the singer is becoming frustrated by his wife's expensive taste. A supposed source tells the magazine, "Nick and Priyanka have plenty of money. It's just that he comes from a middle-class family - dad was a preacher and mom was a teacher - and she loves to splurge." The outlet's alleged insider adds, "Priyanka was spending money on luxe items long before she met Nick and she'll continue to do so."

The tabloid's premise is coming from an anonymous and seemingly imaginary "source," but Gossip Cop reached out to Chopra's spokesperson, who tells us on the record it's "false." Despite what the magazine's unidentified tipster says, a rep qualified to speak on behalf of the actress confirms she's not fighting with her husband over money.

In fact, Jonas surprised Chopra with a $200,000 Mercedes-Maybach last week. The musician purchased the expensive car for his wife to celebrate his new single "Sucker" topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Chopra shared an Instagram photo of the two drinking champagne in front of the new car, along with the caption, "When the hubby goes number one.. the wifey gets a @maybach!!" Simply put, it would appear that Jonas is more than happy to splurge on his wife.

Unfortunately, Gossip Cop has had to debunk several bogus stories about the newlyweds since their December wedding. Shortly after the nuptials, we called out Life & Style's sister publication, OK!, for falsely claiming Jonas and Chopra were fighting over where to live. The couple had already purchased a $6.5 million home in Beverly Hills prior to the story being published.

Last month, Gossip Cop debunked a made-up story about Jonas and Chopra planning more weddings. The couple hasn't had any more marriage ceremonies in the time since. And shortly after that, we corrected a wrong report about Chopra being pregnant with Jonas' baby. The actress isn't expecting a child at this time.

All of those unsourced stories mentioned above were shot down by Chopra's own rep. It's fairly clear at this point that the gossip media has little insight into the actress's marriage to Jonas. The newlyweds aren't fighting over money or the actress's spending habits, and the claim otherwise is unfounded.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
