Two months after Nick Jonas And Priyanka Chopra got married in December, the tabloids wasted no time claiming the Bollywood star was already pregnant. There wasn't any truth to the story when Gossip Cop busted it in February. Nine months later, our reporting has been proven correct.

Star published an article in February insisting Chopra was pregnant with Jonas' baby and was already showing during New York Fashion Week. The outlet quoted a supposed source as saying, "She and Nick are over the moon - and even a little stunned - at how soon it all happened," and went on to add that Chopra was "signing up for prenatal Pilates to keep her body limber." The publication peppered in some phony details, with the seemingly phony insider saying, "Nick has been wonderful, fetching her warm milk or green juice when she needs a pick-me-up."

The magazine also maintained that Chopra and Jonas were preparing to undergo IVF treatments, a common trope in these kinds of bogus pregnancy stories, but "things took a more natural course" and they conceived on their own. The supposed source concludes by saying, "She's telling her family that he's going to be a great dad." As Gossip Cop said at the time, Jonas may be a great father in the future, but that time was not now.

Gossip Cop checked with Chopra's rep, who told us on the record that the actress was "not pregnant." Nine months later, it's safe to say the actress's spokesperson was a more reliable source than the anonymous "insider." Additionally, just a week before the tabloid published the phony article, Chopra herself said the couple wasn't in a rush to start a family. She had told People magazine, "We both know that that's something that needs to happen, but it's not something I think about very much," and added, "I'm sure it will happen in an organic way."

This article in Star came on the heels of another false report by the outlet a week earlier that claimed Chopra and Jonas had a pact with Jonas' brother Joe and his wife, Sophie Turner, to get pregnant at the same time. Curiously, the tabloid made no mention of that pact in the latest article. The story also wasn't mentioned less than a month later when the same publication falsely claimed Jonas and Chopra were building a $20-million-dollar mansion in Los Angeles. Surely, a nursery would be in the plans if that were true. The baby wasn't mentioned because it was all fabricated, as Gossip Cop had said from the start.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
