Does Nick Carter secretly like wearing women’s clothing? That’s the claim in one of this week’s new tabloids, which alleges the former Backstreet Boy is a crossdresser. Gossip Cop looked into the far-fetched story, and we’ve exclusively learned the truth.

An article in the latest issue of Star says some many of the singer’s friends are aware of his supposed habit of borrowing outfits from his wife Lauren Kitt. A so-called “source” tells the magazine, “Nick is fairly open in his personal life about wearing women’s clothing. He’s always raiding his wife’s closet.”

The outlet’s questionable insider goes on to say Kitt isn’t “at all fussed up about what he likes to get up to behind closed doors.” Instead, according the supposed source, she “jokes that Nick has such an eye for fashion that she can’t blame him for wanting to wear her stuff.” Despite how bizarre the tabloid’s story sounds, Gossip Cop still checked in with a source close to Carter, who laughed off the rumor before telling us it’s “not true.” The magazine’s “source” is either misinformed or nonexistent, but we’re assured the former boy bander doesn’t secretly dress like a woman.

It should be noted, the timing of this alleged scoop is quite suspicious. As Gossip Cop reported, the singer’s younger brother, Aaron Carter, revealed he’s bisexual on Twitter last month. The former teen pop star explained he’s been attracted to both men and women since he was young, and has had relationships with both sexes. Seeing as Star’s story about his older brother crossdressing is entirely false, it seems likely the outlet is capitalizing on the news about Aaron by concocting a phony article surrounding Nick’s sexuality. But regardless of the reason the tabloid decided to publish this bogus story, there’s simply no truth to it.
