Nick Carter opened up about his search for the next great boy band during a live interview on “GMA” on Tuesday. Check out the video below!

As Gossip Cop has reported, ABC’s new reality show “Boy Band” has aspiring young male stars competing to join a boy band and score a deal with Hollywood Records. Carter is one of the series’ “architects,” judging the contestants and forming the groups with colleagues Timbaland and Emma Bunton. He explained to Lara Spencer on the morning show, “We started with 30 of the most talented boys from across the country. We dwindled them down to about 18. Then we separated them into three groups.”

“Now it’s to the point where they’re gonna have to perform as a group each week now,” Carter said, promising, “It’s going to be so exciting because you never know what it’s going to be like. This is [how] the show’s different. As architects, we take some of the boys out, we can put them in another group. We can mix and mingle. It’s going to be so much fun.”

Carter went on, “And the stories of these guys! Honestly, these kids come from all over the place. It’s absolutely amazing. I can’t wait for people to really dive into the show.” With 24 years of experience and a current Las Vegas residency, the singer has a lot of expertise to offer. “One of the things I’m focusing on is making sure we put the right group together where they work,” he said, adding, “I want to find the star power… Obviously, they have to have the talent, and these guys can sing their butts off.”

Indeed, the show premiered last week, and Jaden Gray’s “Hallelujah” performance and Miles Wesley singing “Say You Won’t Let Go” were among the highlights. The first group, Uplift, also performed Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like.” On “Good Morning America” now, as Gossip Cop noted earlier, Carter also made an appearance during Tom Holland’s Spider-Man interview to teach him the “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” dance.
