Nick Cannon is threatening to sue the National Enquirer if the tabloid publishes an article claiming he’s suffered a mental breakdown and may lose custody of his kids. See below.

On Tuesday evening, hours before the newest issue of the gossip magazine hits newsstands, Cannon took to Instagram to share a notification his camp received from the National Enquirer. In it, the outlet says it is “preparing an article” that will allege Cannon has “suffered a nervous breakdown and his erratic behavior has given ex-wife Mariah Carey little choice but to petition for custody of their children.” The advisory goes on assert the publication has a so-called “source” contending Cannon has “fits of rage,” as well as “insiders” claiming Carey is “concerned for the well-being of their children.”

Cannon, however, is not only rejecting the allegations, but he’s also vowing to file a lawsuit if the supermarket tabloid moves forward with its story. “MORE LIES!!! So the @enquirer wants to play around with my children. Only Evil operates in this manner. What is the purpose? Except to exemplify pure immoral wickedness,” he wrote on Instagram.

The star went on, “If you report these lies expect a slander and defamation lawsuit. Look everyone, see how the media is trying to break a King? It’s all good though, I’m a warrior! I was built for this! Me and my family, my mindset, and my spirit are all stronger than ever.”

“I felt like releasing this so called ‘journalist’ info to the public so you all can get at them, but instead I release nothing but positive energy into the Universe. No weapon formed against me shall prosper! I receive help through prayer and patience! #Blessed #Awakened,” Cannon concluded.

For the record, Cannon tagged the wrong “Enquirer” in his post, as the @enquirer handle actually belongs to the Cincinnati Enquirer, a local newspaper. It does not appear the National Enquirer is on Instagram. In any case, see Cannon’s full post below. Gossip Cop will update should the tabloid publish the article in question. NOTE: Cannon has removed his Instagram post.
