As Gossip Cop has reported, this year’s March Madness has taken place over the last few weeks. Now on the first weekend in April, the competition is entering its second-to-last stage. After today’s Final Four games, South Carolina or Gonzaga will play either Oregon or North Carolina in the national championship. Of course, it’s been quite the journey so far.

South Carolina was assigned the seventh seed in the East Regional division after finishing its regular season with a record of 22-10. For the round of 64, the Gamecocks beat Marquette by 20 points. In a remarkable upset, the team went on to knock out Duke, a number two seed, in the round of 62. That good fortune followed in the Sweet 16, when South Carolina defeated Baylor, the third-seeded team. Then to make it to this point, the Gamecocks triumphed over fourth-ranked South Florida in the Elite Eight.

Meanwhile, Gonzaga earned the number one seed among the West Regional teams with a 36-1 record. After a sizeable win over South Dakota State in the first round, the Bulldogs had close matches with Northwestern and West Virginia. In both of those games, Gonzaga won by only a few points. But the players crushed Xavier in the Elite Eight, winning by a 24-point margin. Conventional wisdom says the odds are in the Bulldogs’ favor tonight, but this is both Gonzaga and South Carolina’s first time ever in the Final Four, so they’ll each be looking for a victory.

The highly-anticipated face-off will take place at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Tip-off is scheduled for around 6:09 p.m. Eastern. NOTE: The video is no longer available.
