A blog claims Naomi Watts’ role on the upcoming “Game of Thrones” prequel could lead to a breakup with boyfriend Billy Crudup. The story is completely untrue. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk it.

It was reported last month that Watts has signed on for the lead role in HBO’s untitled “Game of Thrones” prequel, which takes places thousands of years before the events of the hit series. According to RadarOnline, the gig could put her romance in jeopardy because it will require her to be away from home for months at a time.

An alleged insider tells the blog, “On the one hand, Naomi is thrilled because this is a chance of a lifetime but on the other hand, they don’t know where this leaves their relationship.” The couple of more than a year, who met while filming the Netflix series “Gypsy,” spend most of their time in New York City.

The “Game of Thrones” prequel, however, will be shooting “thousands of miles away and it won’t be logistically possible for him to fly over to see her,” says the supposed source. The questionable tipster adds, “They’re going to see how it goes, but they’d be lying if they said they’re not worried how this will affect them.”

It’s worth noting, HBO has yet to announce where the “Game of Thrones” prequel is being filmed, and RadarOnline doesn’t provide that scoop either. Production on the original series primarily took place in Ireland, so it’s possible the shooting location will be the same, but there hasn’t been an official announcement yet.

Regardless, the blog’s premise is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but Gossip Cop checked in with a rep qualified to speak on Crudup’s behalf, who tells us on the record that it’s “nonsense.” Meanwhile, a mutual pal of ours and Watts tells us on background that the story is “absurd.” Both stars have been in the industry for a long time and are accustomed to traveling for work. Watts’ new job isn’t putting a strain on her relationship.

Additionally, this isn’t the first time we’ve had to debunk a bogus story about the actor and actress’s romance. Last year, Gossip Cop busted RadarOnline’s sister publication, Star, for falsely claiming that Liev Schreiber, who shares two kids with Watts, confronted Crudup over his relationship with his ex. Schreiber’s spokesperson assured us the incident never occurred. This latest article about the couple is similarly baseless.
