The New Miss America, Cara Mund, appeared on Tuesday’s “Live with Kelly and Ryan” to talk about her big pageant win and making history for North Dakota. She also revealed her plans for the future. Check out the video below!

As Gossip Cop reported, Miss North Dakota was named the 2018 Miss America at Sunday’s ceremony. When she walked out onto the talk show’s set to Katy Perry’s “Roar,” Kelly Ripa told her, “We’re so excited for you! Not just because you’re Miss America, but you’ve made history for your state!” Of being the first Miss Dakota to win the top prize, Mund gushed, “It was just such an honor and a privilege. And even to make it to Top 15, I knew I was making history there and that was my goal going in. I said, ‘I want to do something that’s hasn’t been done before,’ and I walked away with the title!”

“You spend an entire two weeks together,” the beauty queen went on to say of her fellow contestants, like runner-up Miss Missouri. “So you really get to know these girls. We kept telling each other that whoever wins, we’re going to support each other the entire way. And that’s something that’s really important. Although we’re competing with one another, we’re support systems, and I can only be Miss America, but I have all of these wonderful title-holders throughout the nation that are representing their state, so I need them to back me just as much as I back them.”

Mund admitted it was a “little nerve-wracking” that the question round now featured two questions instead of one, as it meant there was double the chance “you could mess up.” “It goes so fast, the whole telecast,” she also explained. “I got done with my talent [portion], and I’m like, ‘I just danced on national television.'” Going forward, Mund said she plans to attend law school, and wants “little girls all over the nation to be just as inspired as I was [watching as a kid], and to know it doesn’t matter where you come from.” She added, “If you can dream it, you can become it.”

After the broadcast, Seacrest shared a funny boomerang of himself and Ripa trying to master the pageant wave with Mund. He wrote, “Our #missamerica wave needs more grace, less ‘single ladies.'” Watch the videos below! NOTE: One of the videos is no longer available.
