Is Miranda Lambert getting "ruthless revenge" on Blake Shelton in a "country music feud"? That's what one of the webloids wants readers to believe, but the report is actually very misleading. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.
RadarOnline is blaring on Friday, "Malicious Miranda! Inside Lambert's Ruthless Revenge Against Blake Shelton." According to the site, "Country songbird Miranda Lambert is flying high — and bringing ex-husband Blake Shelton to a new low — now that her dirt-dishing new album is a smash hit!" Lambert's album, The Weight Of These Wings, came out nearly a year ago. Its success is not something just happened all of a sudden. What did happen recently is the CMA Awards nominations were announced, and that seems to be the impetus for this article.
The outlet notes that "the 33-year-old Texas firecracker led all performers in nominations for this year's Country Music Association Awards," while Shelton was "shut out." The online publication, however, fails to mention that he didn't release an album within the eligibility period, which was July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017. Shelton's last album came out in May of 2016, making it ineligible for the 2017 awards, while Lambert dropped hers in November of 2016. Her record was right in the window, while his was not. That explains why Lambert scored nominations while Shelton did not.
To assert that Lambert is getting revenge because she has nods at this year's CMAs while Shelton doesn't is misleading and false. It's also a stretch to say that she is personally getting revenge on her former husband because a third party, the Country Music Association, nominated her music for awards. How does that make Lambert "malicious"? Still, the online publication quotes a so-called "friend" as saying, "Miranda can't keep from smiling these days. She suffered at Blake's hands, but now the world is coming up roses and that pain of losing her man has faded into the rearview mirror."
"And that she's beating Blake at his own country music game, it just makes it all the sweeter. She's laughing all the way to the bank," continues the supposed source, who further contends that at the CMAs ceremony, "Miranda will have [boyfriend Anderson East] by her side. She hopes Blake gets sick of her marching back and forth to the stage while she scoops up awards." Of course, there's no guarantee Shelton will even be at the show, nor it guaranteed that Lambert will "scoop up awards."
And given that Gossip Cop has been told those close to Lambert don't go dishing on her to the gossip media, we're inclined to think RadarOnline simply made this story up to capitalize on the recent CMA nominations announcement. After all, last year the webloid used the ACM Honors to make up a story about Lambert and Shelton having a secret "meeting." That story was bogus, and this new one on Lambert's "ruthless revenge" is deceptive.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
