Are Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton in a "race" to get married? A new report claims she wants to "beat" her ex-husband to the altar. But Gossip Cop has learned the story was wholly made up.

In Touch is exclaiming on its website, "So much for friendly exes — this former husband and wife duo is straight-up competing!" According to the tabloid, Lambert and Shelton are both "determined to marry their significant others — and it's race to see who will get there first!" Lambert and boyfriend Anderson East supposedly have the edge, with a so-called "insider" claiming, "They are pushing to run away and elope by year's end. They'll make time during the holidays to elope and have a honeymoon."

Notably, despite claiming that Shelton is "competing" with his former wife over who will remarry first, the gossip magazine doesn't have anything, not even one of its specious sources, to back that up. Instead, the outlet simply contends he and girlfriend Gwen Stefani "have made it pretty clear how they feel about one another and their commitment to the future." The publication goes on to assert they've "talked to each other about getting married down the road," and vaguely declares, "There's a wedding in Blake and Gwen's future."

The tabloid concludes its article by repeating its already-debunked allegation about Lambert and Shelton having a "secret meeting." As Gossip Cop reported, almost exactly a month ago the magazine ran a cover story in which it claimed to know Lambert wanted to have a "face-to-face" with Shelton for the sake of closure. Now the outlet maintains the "two exes may be competing to see who can get hitched first." But this is a manufactured narrative, just like that made-up cover story was.

Lambert and Shelton may each wed again someday, but if and when they do, it will have nothing to do with "racing" to "beat" the other. Furthermore, Gossip Cop is told that no one close to either country superstar spoke with this publication on this subject. And, by the way, this elopement angle isn't even original. While In Touch is currently making such a claim about Lambert and East, the tabloid previously peddled a false cover story about Shelton and Stefani eloping nearly two years ago. A magazine with real insight this is not.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
