Did Miranda Lambert really "blast" Gwen Stefani's looks at the recent Country Music Academy Awards? That's the story being pushed by a tabloid. Gossip Cop has looked into the claim and we can debunk it.
An untrue article in the National Enquirer alleges Lambert spent her time at the CMAs "taking potshots" at Stefani, who has been dating her ex, Blake Shelton, for four years now. The outlet quotes a supposed "insider" as saying, "Miranda was ripping Gwen's looks and saying they were the best doctors money could buy." Lambert and her husband Brendan McLoughlin were seated not far from Stefani and Shelton, while both Lambert and Shelton performed separately at the show.
The so-called "source" goes on to say, "Miranda never got over the fact that Blake moved on so quickly and flaunted his romance with Gwen on 'The Voice.'" The questionable tipster adds, "They avoid each other at red-carpet events. Miranda didn't give Blake a standing ovation at the CMAs, and Blake refused to applaud when Miranda performed. There's a lot of bad blood, but Miranda isn't ready to make peace with either of them. Right now she's relishing that she looks better than Gwen!"
To be fair, it's reasonable to expect the two superstars wouldn't be best friends, but there's no truth to the tabloid's claim that Lambert was badmouthing Stefani so viciously at the CMAs. For starters, the outlet doesn't mention when the trash-talking supposedly occurred or who Lambert was speaking to when she did. The account of each couple's reaction to the other was described completely differently by the much more trustworthy People magazine. The trusted outlet noted, "The bobbing heads of Blake Shelton and girlfriend Gwen Stefani were something to behold on Wednesday night at the CMA Awards show, because they were keeping time to Shelton's ex-wife, Miranda Lambert...They even followed her performance with what could be assessed as something more than polite applause."
As for Lambert's reaction to Shelton, the outlet said, "Lambert and her husband, Brendan McLoughlin later returned the gesture in kind. Their two heads bobbed along, too, when Shelton took the stage... and the two also didn't sit on their hands." It might not have been the most enthusiastic response from either side, but the two couples certainly didn't sneer at each other in any way. Lambert and Shelton have clearly moved on, four years after splitting up.
Gossip Cop has busted the tabloids many times regarding the former couple and Shelton's current girlfriend. The gossip media is seemingly obsessed with spreading false rumors about Lambert, Shelton, and Stefani . That includes the Enquirer. In March 2018, the paper purported that Shelton was making secret late night calls to Lambert in the wake of her breakup with ex-boyfriend Anderson East. That report was filled with old, rehashed rumors that had already been debunked by Gossip Cop. This latest narrative is just as untrue.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
