There was nothing "shocking" about Miranda Lambert and Anderson East's red carpet appearance at Wednesday's CMA Awards, despite a claim from a clearly clueless tabloid. Gossip Cop can explain what's going on with this piece of fake news.
As Gossip Cop reported, Lambert performed "To Learn Her" at the CMAs, where she also won Female Vocalist of the Year. By her side on the red carpet and in the audience at the Bridgestone Arena was East. That makes perfect sense. East is her boyfriend and a country music artist in his own right, and they've attended country music award shows together in the past, including the Country Music Association Awards.
But according to OK!, their joint appearance last night was "shocking" because they attended the event "amid split rumors." Asserts the tabloid, "Everyone who is a fan of Miranda Lambert's breathed a sigh of relief after seeing her with her boyfriend Anderson East." But fans weren't shocked by the couple's date night and didn't need to breathe a sigh of relief because they already knew there was no truth to claims of a breakup. In fact, Gossip Cop busted HollywoodLife in October for wrongly speculating Lambert and East split. And hours before they showed up to the CMAs, Gossip Cop debunked a report from Star, an OK! sister publication, that falsely alleged Lambert had dumped East.
Gossip Cop knew they were still together. Fans knew they were still together. If the gossip magazine was surprised by their CMAs outing, that just goes to show how little the outlet knows about the pair and how little it cared to find out the truth about the "rumors" before this. The tabloid further shows its carelessness and cluelessness by declaring that Lambert "stunned in two different outfits at the 2017 CMA Awards on Wednesday night with Anderson before hitting the stage." In actuality, Lambert only wore one dress, a lacy light blue gown, on the red carpet (see above).
What OK! is claiming is a picture of Lambert's other red carpet "outfit" with East is actually a photo from the CMT Music Awards, which took place in June. Gossip Cop supposes that if the magazine doesn't even realize these are two different awards shows the couple attended months apart, we shouldn't expect them to accurately portray their relationship, either.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
