A tabloid article about Miley Cyrus doing “wedding workouts” is fake news. Gossip Cop can reveal why this is just another sensational non-story.

According to OK!, Cyrus is a “booty-busting bride” because she’s “prepping for her wedding” to Liam Hemsworth “with an extreme cardio- and yoga-based bootcamp.” A so-called “source” claims to the gossip magazine, “She’s done two weeks and will do another two next month. Liam doesn’t want her go to too far, and she’s promised him she’ll focus next on toning rather than slimming down.”

“Her dress is strapless, so she wants to get some definition in her arms,” continues the outlet’s supposed snitch. “She looks incredible, and she’s being superhealthy about it! Miley says she’s going to have a six-pack like Liam’s.” Gossip Cop isn’t sure what having six-pack abs has to do with wearing a bridal gown, but most importantly, this tale is all about shedding for the wedding and yet nothing is mentioned about the nuptials themselves.

When is the wedding? Where is it taking place? Is it just for family, or will celebrity pals be there, too? How will Cyrus fit in the big day with her new album launch and her schedule on “The Voice,” along with Hemsworth’s movie career? Notably, OK! doesn’t seem to know the answers to any of these questions. It quite literally published a piece about Cyrus getting in shape to be a bride with no details about an actual wedding.

So, here’s what’s really going on: Cyrus occasionally posts Instagram photos of her yoga poses, and she is often photographed wearing fitness apparel. It seems the tabloid simply took the singer’s interest in exercise and healthy living and sensationally tied it to a made-up narrative about wanting to be trim when she walks down the aisle. There’s two problems with that. First off, Cyrus’ interest in yoga is nothing new. And second, there’s no wedding on the immediate horizon. The pop stars’ workouts are a personal interest and have nothing to do with being a “booty-busting bride,” Gossip Cop is told.

Furthermore, OK! isn’t exactly in-the-know when it comes to this couple. More than a year ago, we busted the magazine for falsely speculating Cyrus was pregnant. And then just a few months ago, the outlet was equally wrong when it claimed Cyrus and Hemsworth were “trying for twins.” Tellingly, nothing is said about a pregnancy in this new story about scoring six-pack abs. It’s just another example of fake news that never should’ve been published in the first place.
