Miley Cyrus did not tell a group of young fans to “worship Satan,” despite a ridiculous report from a website known for publishing fake news. Gossip Cop can exclusively set the record straight.

According to the untrustworthy blog Neon Nettle, the singer recently gave some unusual advice to a group of fans waiting at the backstage exit following a taping of NBC’s “The Voice.” After one youngster supposedly asked, “Hey Miley, do you have any advice for any of your fans that might want to follow in your footsteps and become a star?” Cyrus allegedly responded, “If you wanna be famous and rich, it’s easy. But don’t ask me, you need to ask Satan.”

The site further quotes the singer as having said, “If you want everything that I have, then all you have to do is ask Satan for it and you can have it. You need to stop asking Santa for Christmas presents and praying to Jesus because none of them exist. Satan is our Lord, and when you let him into your heart and worship him instead of your make-believe God, then you can have it all.” The outlet’s questionable source goes on to say that Cyrus stormed off with her entourage following the supposed diatribe.

Despite how absurd this all sounds, Gossip Cop still checked in with a source close to the situation, who exclusively assures us that Cyrus never made any of the comments cited above. All of the quotes attributed to her in the article are fabricated. Oddly enough, this isn’t the first time we’ve had to call out a blog for making up a story about the pop star worshiping the devil.

Gossip Cop recently busted YourNewsWire for falsely claiming that Cyrus called Satan a “nice guy” who’s “misunderstood.” In fact, alleging that a celebrity worships the devil is a recurring theme among fake news sites. Other A-listers who’ve been incorrectly quoted as worshiping Satan include Jay Z, Rihanna and Katy Perry. This latest article surrounding Cyrus’ ties to the dark side is equally ludicrous.
