Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth did not get married on Tybee Island last month, despite another report. Gossip Cop has confirmed there is no record of a wedding taking place, contrary to a rumor making its way through the tabloids. We can set the record straight again.

In Touch is wrongly announcing, “Miley’s Secretly Married!” The accompanying story falsely asserts, “Miley and Liam have finally tied the knot. They secretly eloped on Tybee Island,” which is where they fell in love while filming The Last Song and where Hemsworth is currently shooting a new movie. “Neither Miley nor Liam planned to get married when she booked the trip to see him, but that all changed once she arrived,” a so-called “source” claims to the tabloid.

“They felt so nostalgic and spent hours reminiscing about old times,” continues the supposed snitch. “They both realized that the island was the ideal setting because it had such sentimental value to them.” The gossip magazine’s alleged tipster adds, “Miley enjoys leading a hippie life and never wanted to have a big Hollywood wedding, so it all worked out perfectly.” The outlet contends Cyrus “simply put on a casual long white dress before they exchanged vows on the beach.” The purported “source” alleges she and Hemsworth then “celebrated their nuptials over a romantic candlelit dinner.”

Notably, the publication doesn’t give a specific date for when these nuptials supposedly took place. But the tipster maintains, “Miley and Liam plan to have an intimate wedding party back in L.A.” No date is given for that, either. Most importantly, there is no legal record of the couple marrying. As Gossip Cop pointed out when we busted OK! last week for similarly falsely claiming Cyrus and Hemsworth secretly married in Georgia, the Chatham County Probate Court confirmed there is no marriage license registered to the couple. While they could’ve celebrated their love without one, they are not officially wed if there is no license.

It’s also worth remembering that In Touch has a problematic history when it comes to these two tying or not tying the knot. In February 2016, for example, the tabloid insisted the two stars were “fighting” over whether to get married. That September, the magazine wrongly claimed the wedding was “off.” And this past July, the outlet falsely reported Cyrus’ prenup demands led to Hemsworth calling “off” the wedding again.

Curiously, in this new article about the pair “finally” marrying, there’s not a word about a prenup or wedding plans previously being canceled. Gossip Cop suspects the publication only changed the narrative now because Cyrus and Hemsworth were photographed together in Savannah wearing promise rings. Those bands, however, in no way signal an official, legal marriage.
