Miley Cyrus is not trying to win back Liam Hemsworth, despite a made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can bust the story. It's simply not the case.
Cyrus and Hemsworth very publicly split up over the summer, and in time since, she had a fling with Kaitlynn Carter and is currently dating Cody Simpson. According to a new untrue report in Star, the singer misses her estranged husband and wants to reconcile. The tabloid quotes a supposed source as saying, "Miley's sorry about the way things went down, and she'd like to give their marriage another go. She knows she's been crazy lately, but deep down, she loves Liam."
As for Cyrus' relationship with Simpson, which she's been very public about in recent weeks on social media, a so-called "friend" tells the outlet, "Cody was a plaything. She was stringing him along until she figured out how to mend things with Liam." One of the supposed sources, it's not clear which, also claims to have insight into how Hemsworth is feeling, saying, "They've been in secret talks, but he's playing hard to get." He hasn't decided one way or another whether he wants to start over." The "insider" continued, "Miley's pulling at his heartstrings. He's always had a soft spot for her."
Unfortunately for the tabloid, its timing is terrible. Just a few days ago, Cyrus posted an Instagram story of her celebrating her 27th birthday, and Simpson was sitting right next to her as she blew out the candles on her cake. The celebration came after the gossip media speculated about the status of the couple because Cyrus had been silent on social media for a few weeks. That's because she's recovering from throat surgery, not because she split from her boyfriend. Regardless, the singer has moved on and she's not begging Hemsworth to take her back. A source close to the singer assures us the magazine's article is untrue.
This isn't the first time Star has made a similar allegation about Cyrus. Last month, the tabloid published an article claiming Cyrus was acting out to get Hemsworth's attention. The story asserted that the singer's "erratic" behavior was worrying her family and it was all a scheme to drive Hemsworth crazy. The magazine purported that despite Cyrus dating Carter at the time, "She's starting to miss Liam and has tried reaching out to him, but he refuses to have anything to do with her." Gossip Cop debunked that story as well.
Meanwhile, Star's track record covering the actor since the split has been just as sketchy. In August, the outlet claimed Hemsworth was dating his brother Chris's ex, Isabel Lucas. The story was completely false, and shortly after we debunked it, he struck up a romance with actress Maddison Brown.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
