A new report claiming that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are "not together after enduring a rough few months" is provably untrue. Gossip Cop can debunk the split rumors. There's plenty of evidence showing the two are still a couple.
An article in this week's issue of NW, which was spread online by the Daily Mail, falsely claims that the singer and actor "have called off their wedding due to disagreements about when to have children." An alleged insider says Cyrus isn't ready to make the leap, adding, "She's strong-willed and you can't keep a free spirit locked up for long."
Over the past several months, according to the "source," Cyrus and Hemsworth "have spent a lot of time apart as they hadn't been getting along." To back up its contentions, the magazine notes that the singer deleted all of the photos on her Instagram account.
Last week, however, Hemsworth shared a video on his Instagram Stories in which he scares his fiancee while their driving in a car. Not only is it evident that the two are still together, but they're still playful and happy as well.
As for the reason behind Cyrus removing her Instagram photos, it has nothing to do with a breakup. "Entertainment Tonight" reported last week that the singer is taking "a long needed break" from the social media platform and "feels it's healthy" to do so. The credible celebrity news show further noted that she and her fiance "are very much together" and her decision to clear her account of photos "wasn't earth-shattering."
Just last week, Gossip Cop called out OK! Australia for publishing a similar story about Cyrus and Hemsworth calling off their wedding amid a breakup. And earlier this month, we busted RadarOnline for alleging that Cyrus and Hemsworth had "split for a second time." Obviously, both of those narrative were inaccurate.
Conclusion: NW and the Daily Mail claim that the engaged couple has broken up after months of fighting, but just last week, Hemsworth shared a video in which he playfully pranks his fiancee. Meanwhile, the outlets point to Cyrus deleting her Instagram photos as evidence behind a split. However, the reason for the singer purging her account has nothing to do with a nonexistent breakup. Hemsworth's video of the couple together, plus the valid explanation behind her missing Instagram pictures, is why these latest split rumors are earning a zero on our fact-check meter.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
