Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth did not get secretly married in Georgia, despite a report published exactly one year ago today. Gossip Cop debunked the bogus story when it first emerged. Time has proven it false.

On November 8, 2017, OK! published a phony cover story claiming that Cyrus and Hemsworth held a secret wedding on Tybee Island in Savannah, where they met while filming their 2010 movie The Last Song. The magazine said the couple had initially been planning a lavish ceremony, but decided to elope “spur-of-the-moment” during a weekend getaway to the island. According to the outlet, the singer and actor planned to throw a big party in Malibu and go on a honeymoon following their secret ceremony.

At the time the false article was printed last year, Gossip Cop checked in with the Chatham County Probate Court, where Cyrus and Hemsworth would have had to obtain a marriage license. A clerk at the office checked the records and confirmed the two did not wed on Tybee Island. Sources close to the couple also dismissed the tabloid’s story. The report was entirely fabricated, and that’s become even more evident one year later.

This past August, TMZ reported that Cyrus and Hemsworth are in “no rush” to get married. The outlet noted that the formality of marriage isn’t important to the couple, who’ve been engaged for around two years. In fact, the singer herself made this clear in September 2017, two months before OK! published its made-up story. Cyrus told the Sun at the time, “I don’t envision marriage. I’m 24. I hope I get to live a little bit more. I have too much living to do.” That remains the case.

Unfortunately, the unreliable magazine has continued to make up false stories about the couple’s relationship. In January, for example, Gossip Cop busted the publication for wrongly reporting that Cyrus and Hemsworth were “shopping for cribs.” It’s now more than nine months later and the couple hasn’t welcomed a child.

In July, Gossip Cop called out tabloid for falsely claiming that Cyrus and Hemsworth had split and “called off” their wedding because the actor wanted kids, but his fianceé wasn’t ready to start a family. Not only is the couple still together, but that article didn’t mention what happened to their supposed wedding in Georgia last November. That’s because it never happened. It’s clear the unreliable outlet has no insight into the couple’s romance.
