Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have not canceled their supposed wedding plans in the wake of their Malibu home burning down in the California wildfires, despite an inaccurate report. Gossip Cop can correct the false claim. The couple wasn’t planning to get married on the property.
On Monday night, the singer revealed that she lost the home she shares with her fiance, but they evacuated safely. According to RadarOnline, the couple had been planning to tie the knot at their beachside mansion, “but those dreams were shattered” after it burnt down. “They had plans to get married at her property in Malibu and now those plans are on a permanent hold,” an alleged insider tells the blog.
The site’s story is completely made-up and was seemingly fabricated to capitalize on the news that the engaged couple lost their home. In August, TMZ reported that Cyrus and Hemsworth are in “no rush” to get married. The outlet further noted that the two “may never” wed because “the formality of marriage isn’t important” to them.
Regardless, Gossip Cop also checked in with a source close to the situation, who tells us on the condition of anonymity that RadarOnline’s report is false. We’re told Cyrus and Hemsworth weren’t planning to get married at their Malibu home. The fire didn’t force them to call off a nonexistent wedding. It should be noted, the unreliable blog provides zero details about the couple’s supposed wedding plans. The site doesn’t mention when the ceremony was scheduled to take place or any other specifics, such as the size of the party and the guest list. That’s because there was never a wedding in the works.
Meanwhile, the blog has already proven to have zero insight into the couple’s relationship. Gossip Cop busted the site in July for wrongly reporting that Cyrus and Hemsworth had “split.” The two are clearly still together and this latest article makes no mention of what happened to their supposed breakup.
It’s also worth noting, RadarOnline’s sister publication, OK!, published a cover story last year claiming that Cyrus and Hemsworth had a “secret wedding” in Georgia. If one were to believe the blog and its relative outlets, the couple got married last year, split this past July and had planned to get married again in Malibu before their house burnt down. That storyline obviously doesn’t make any sense, and that’s because it’s a complete work of fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
