Miley Cyrus is not canceling her VMAs performance on Sunday night, nor is MTV “worried” she’ll be a no-show, despite a made-up report. Gossip Cop can bust this fabricated claim. We’re told no one is concerned about Cyrus bailing on the awards show.

According to the serial fibbers at HollywoodLife, MTV is “on edge,” fearing that Cyrus will pull out of her scheduled performance at the very last-minute. The unreliable site has a seemingly fabricated “source” quoted as saying that production insiders at the Video Music Awards are “scared about Miley canceling her performance like she did for [the Teen Choice Awards].” The outlet adds that after Cyrus was a no-show at the Teen Choice Awards two weeks ago, “Some producers are very touch and go with her right now, and are hoping for the best.”

Here’s what’s really going on: HollywoodLies, as it’s known because of its habit for concocting untrue tales, seemingly is looking for a unique angle to the MTV Video Music Awards, which take place Sunday at The Forum in Inglewood, California. As Gossip Cop reported on August 13, Cyrus bailed on the Teen Choice Awards, where she was set to receive the Ultimate Choice Award, citing that she “had every intention of being there to accept and celebrate this honor,” but that she had “created an unrealistic schedule” and couldn’t make it.

Gossip Cop has been assured by sources involved with the production of the MTV Video Music Awards, as well as those close to Cyrus, that no one is “worried,” “scared” or “on edge” about her not showing up. If anything, Cyrus lives for the VMAs. As you’ll recall, she made headlines in 2013 for raunchily twerking on Robin Thicke during their performance of “We Can’t Stop” and “Blurred Lines.” And while hosting the awards show in 2015, Cyrus exposed her left breast and smoked a joint on live TV.

This year, Cyrus is returning and is set to give a far more tame performance of her new song, “Younger Now.” In fact, she’s been taking to social media in the hours before the show to express her excitement about being at the annual MTV awards ceremony. Cyrus posted on Instagram a message that reads, “TONIGHT!!!!! My favorite night of the year #MileyVMAs @vmas.” And referencing her controversial 2013 performance, Cyrus wrote alongside a picture of her and Thicke, “Sorry Dad… I’ll be good tonight I promise… @vmas.”

Over the years, HollywoodLies has published a slew of bogus reports about Cyrus. Almost a year to the date, the blog wrongly claimed Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were secretly married because she was spotted wearing a diamond encrusted ring. At the time, her rep exclusively told us the speculation was “completely false.” Much like that tall tale and many others before and since then, the site’s current claim about MTV being “scared” Cyrus will be a no-show at the VMAs is pure fiction.
