What happened to Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher having a set of twins? One year ago, Gossip Cop debunked a tabloid’s claim about the couple preparing to welcome two new members to their family. It’s now obvious that the outlet’s report was nonsense.

Exactly twelve months ago, Star claimed Kunis and Kutcher were in the “very early stages” of having twins. The couple was apparently planning to keep it a secret by only sharing the news with “their parents and close friends,” as well as with their two current children over ice cream. The tabloid never explained how their source found out about the news despite the couple supposedly only sharing the news with their innermost circle.

The outlet’s suspicious insider then claimed the spouses were worried that their two kids would “only have each other in the years to come,” and decided that expanding their family was the only solution. According to the outlet, they were genuinely surprised when they found out they were expecting twins after the first sonogram. A dubious tipster said Kutcher was ecstatic and “let out a whoop” as soon as he heard the news, and then immediately starting planning a nursery for the twins.

Rather than rely on a questionable and unidentified source, Gossip Cop ran the claim by Kunis’ official spokesperson. The actress’s rep went on the record with us to clarify that the actress wasn’t pregnant. We also pointed out that Kunis herself had mentioned in multiple interviews that she and her husband were very content with the current size of their family.

Since the tabloid originally published the made-up twins story, the couple’s two kids turned five and three and are still the newest members of the family. Kunis has remained in the public eye, wrapping up filming two movies slated for 2020 releases and guest-hosting an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show this past April. Considering the fact that the actress hasn’t been spotted going into labor or wielding even a hint of a baby bump, we’re inclined to agree with our initial skepticism of the outlandish claim.

Unfortunately, Star didn’t seem to get the hint that its story was nothing but lies. Two days after the tabloid’s original story, it doubled down with another made-up piece about Bruce Willis and Demi Moore being named the godparents of the imaginary twins. By May, the publication dropped its fake narrative, but invented a new one about Kunis “wasting away” amid a divorce from Kutcher. The “divorce,” of course, was just as fictional as the “twins.”
