Rosie O’Donnell’s ex-wife, Michelle Rounds, is dead following a suspected suicide. She was 46. Few details surrounding Rounds’ death are known, but she reportedly took her own life Monday at her home. The news didn’t break until Friday, but O’Donnell had tweeted earlier this week about receiving “a call about a death,” and added, “Life turns on a dime.”

O’Donnell also said in a statement to Gossip Cop, “I am saddened to hear about this terrible tragedy. Mental illness is a very serious issue affecting many families. My thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle’s family, her wife and their child.” Rounds was previously hospitalized in 2015 after an apparent intentional overdose on pills.

O’Donnell and Rounds secretly wed at the TV personality’s Nyack, New York home in June 2012, but didn’t announce their marriage until two months later. The two tied the knot shortly after Rounds was diagnosed with a desmoid tumor, a rare disease for which she needed immediate surgery. A year later they adopted a baby girl named Dakota.

But by 2015, their marriage had fallen apart. O’Donnell, then a co-host of “The View,” announced at the same time that she was quitting the talk show and that she and Rounds had split up. In at statement to Gossip Cop at the time, O’Donnell’s rep said, “Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first.”

The divorce and custody battle over Dakota quickly got acrimonious, but the two agreed to joint legal custody of the little girl in October 2015. However, O’Donnell said on her website in May 2016 that she has sole custody of the child and Rounds wasn’t involved in her life. Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for O’Donnell for more information about her ex-wife’s passing.
