Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are not moving in with the actor’s 102-year-old dad, Kirk Douglas, so they can take care of him, despite a made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the story. We’re told it’s not true.

According to the National Enquirer, Douglas and his wife have sold two of their homes and will be living at his father’s garage apartment to keep an eye on him and his 100-year-old wife, Anne. “Michael and Catherine are deeply concerned about Kirk and Anne,” a supposed source tells the magazine. “They want to be there for them in case of any emergency.”

The alleged insider further contends that Douglas and Zeta-Jones have refurbished the garage apartment at Kirk’s home “in anticipation of a long, somber vigil there.” The questionable tipster adds, “It’s not fancy by any means. But Michael feels he needs to be there for his dying dad.”

The magazine’s story is based on claims from a so-called “source” close to Douglas, but Gossip Cop checked in with the actor’s spokesperson, who assures us on the record it’s completely made-up. Despite what the outlet’s anonymous and untraceable “insider” claims, the rep, who’s authorized to speak on the movie star’s behalf, tells us he hasn’t moved into this father’s garage.

Although Douglas is certainly concerned for the well-being of his 102-year-old dad, he simply isn’t living in his garage with his wife. Unfortunately, we’re not surprised by the tabloid’s bogus story. The Enquirer has already proven to have little insight into the actor’s career and personal life.

Last year, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for wrongly reporting Douglas was in talks to play George Michael in a biopic about the late singer. The outlet maintained the film would feature seven different actors portraying the pop icon at various stages in his life, with Keanu Reeves, Ryan Gosling, Mel Gibson, Tom Hardy and others involved. We debunked the story as soon as it emerged. As time has proven, there’s no such project in the works.

Shortly before that, the publication falsely claimed Zeta-Jones was furious about Douglas supposedly reuniting with Sharon Stone on a new movie. In reality, the Basic Instinct co-stars were never planning to team up on a film together. A rep for Zeta-Jones told us last year the story was fabricated, and there’s still no project with Douglas and Stone in development. The unreliable outlet doesn’t know anything about the actor’s living situation either.
