Meryl Streep and Cher are feuding on the set of the upcoming Mamma Mia! sequel? That's the claim in one of this week's new tabloids, which says the co-stars have been butting heads throughout filming. Gossip Cop looked into the alleged drama and we can exclusively clear up the situation.

Production is currently underway on Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again," a follow-up to the hit 2008 musical. Cher recently joined the cast of the sequel, but now a so-called "tipster" tells Star that she's "bringing all kinds of chaos" to the set. "She arrives with an entourage and all her wigs and so many ideas for the director," says the supposed source. "Cher seems to think everyone, including Meryl, should bow down to her. And Meryl Streep does not bow down to anyone." The questionable insider further contends that the mood on set of the film has been "icy" and "everyone just wants to get it over with."

However, Cher and Streep actually have a long history together. The two co-starred in 1983's Silkwood, for which they both received Oscar nominations. In a 2010 interview, Cher said she was eager "to have the chance to work with Meryl again," and noted that the actress "took me under her wing" when they collaborated for the first time. Additionally, Cher revealed in a recent tweet that she loves "working on MM2" and "everyone on it." The singer later added, "Another Great day. Such a Wonderful Cast & Crew."

Naturally, we were quick to question the validity of the feud alleged by the magazine. Our doubts were confirmed after checking in with a rep for Cher, who exclusively tells us, "That is so silly. They totally love one another and Cher had a fabulous reunion with her friend." In fact, this isn't the first time Gossip Cop has had to debunk fake friction between the singer and another celebrity. Earlier this year, we busted Star's sister outlet, RadarOnline, for falsely claiming Cher and Celine Dion got into a feud at the Billboard Music Awards. This latest article is equally bogus.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
