Is Mel Gibson really heading to fat camp in an effort to lose weight? That’s the claim in one of this week’s new tabloids, but Gossip Cop has the exclusive truth.

According to the National Enquirer, the 61-year-old actor wants to make a comeback on the big screen, and believes getting fit will help him become a movie star again. A supposed “source” tells the magazine, “Mel is desperate to get his box office mojo back, and he’ll do anything to make it happen… Mel needs a box office body to attract the right scripts.”

The outlet’s dubious insider goes on to contend that Gibson had previously been spending hours a day in the gym working out with a trainer, as well as adhering to a strict diet, “but now Mel has a tough time staying with the exercise routine and eating right.” The “source” adds, “He’s looking at a fat farm to finish the job.”

Gossip Cop, however, checked in with a rep for Gibson, who exclusively assures us the tabloid’s tale is “all false,” and the actor simply isn’t enrolling in any sort of weight loss program. Of course, the Enquirer often targets the actor with bogus reports, so this latest fabrication doesn’t come as much of a shock.

Gossip Cop previously busted the magazine for falsely claiming Gibson is lying about being sober. And in November 2015, we called out the outlet for wrongly reporting that Gibson had been dumped by girlfriend Rosalind Ross. Not only are the two still together, but they welcomed a baby earlier this year. This latest article about the actor’s nonexistent trip to fat camp is also untrue.
