Was Mel Gibson really "creeping on" Daddy's Home 2 co-star Alessandra Ambrosio at the film's premiere earlier this month? That's the claim in one of this week's tabloids, but Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can exclusively set the record straight.
According to OK!, the actor couldn't keeps his eyes off the Victoria's Secret supermodel at the event, and went out of his way to cozy up to her. A so-called "source" tells the magazine, "Mel pushed past Mark Wahlberg to stand by Alessandra on the red carpet. She's very friendly, so she threw her arm around him, but he was practically drooling over her."
The outlet notes that Gibson was accompanied to the premiere by girlfriend Rosalind Ross, while Ambrosio's fiance Jamie Mazur was also in attendance, but the alleged insider says their presence didn't prevent the actor from gawking at the model. "They all tried desperately to ignore Mel's staring. It was really creepy, but it seemed he just couldn't help himself."
So, let's get this straight: Even though Ambrosio willingly put her arm around Gibson, he was "creeping"? And even though the actor came with his girlfriend and she attended with her fiance, Gibson was openly "creeping" in front of them? Also, dozens of outlets covered the premiere, so why is it that no reputable media organization reported Gibson was "creeping"?
That's because the entire premiere was manufactured by the tabloid. Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for the actor, who exclusively assures us the magazine's story is "100 percent untrue." It's possible this story was fabricated by the magazine's untraceable "source" simply because Gibson happened to have been standing next to Ambrosio when the entire Daddy's Home 2 cast posed for a photo on the red carpet. Regardless, we're told on the record the outlet's assertion that the actor was inappropriately ogling the supermodel is completely false.
In fact, this wouldn't be the first time OK! has concocted a bogus article surrounding the actor's involvement in the new holiday movie. Gossip Cop busted the magazine earlier this year when it falsely claimed Wahlberg teased Gibson about his weight on the set of Daddy's Home 2. Shortly after that nonsense, we called out OK!'s sister publication, Star, for wrongly reporting that Gibson feuded with Will Ferrell on the set of the family film. This latest article focusing on the movie's red carpet is equally baseless.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
