Meghan McCain’s co-hosts on The View don’t hate her, nor do they want her to quit the show, despite an untrue tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the story. It’s simply false.

An article in the Globe calls McCain “mercurial” and claims she’s despised by every other host of The View, the show she has co-hosted for three years with Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, and Abby Huntsman. Despite being more conservative than some of her co-hosts, the outlet says the daughter of former GOP Senator John McCain isn’t disliked for her politics, but because of her attitude on set.

According to an alleged insider, “Meghan is hands down one of the most spoiled and conceited people to co-host The View.” The phony report also quotes another so-called “source” as saying, “She thinks she’s the star of the show. It’s no stretch to say that every member of the cast hates and loathes Meghan and would break into a dance if she quit.”

This all stems from a recent incident on the show when McCain got into a heated argument with a guest host, political commentator Ana Navarro. When the show went to break, McCain walked off the set. Footage of her walking off was replayed all over cable news and social media. The phony source tells the tabloid, “If Abby or Joy or Sunny stormed off the set, they would be fired.” That’s not what happened, however.

McCain didn’t “storm off the set.” She walked off the set during a commercial break and was back in her seat for the start of the next segment. She explained in an interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that the producers instruct the hosts to leave the table after heated exchanges, which are common on the show, so that’s what she did. The story implies there was a much bigger blowup than what actually occurred. There’s also no evidence that the rest of the cast hates her, as the story states.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in September, just before the start of The View’s 23rd season, McCain and Behar talked about their combative conversations at the table and explained that they enjoy bantering with each other. “Of all the people backstage, we actually get along the best,” McCain said, and Behar added, “Yeah, it’s true.” The two continued to make it clear they get along off-camera.

Meanwhile, an ABC spokesperson flat-out denies the tabloid’s story. “This is ridiculous,” says a rep for the network, “All of our co-hosts are talented and smart professionals. They have passionate conversations and can agree to disagree.”

This isn’t the first time the Globe has attempted to make a mountain out of a molehill on this subject. Last June, the tabloid ran a very similar story claiming McCain and Behar were feuding backstage. The article claimed the two fought over everything, from McCain’s father, to the size of their dressing rooms. The magazine offered no evidence other than the words of a purported insider. Gossip Cop busted the story when it first emerged. A year later, the two are still getting along off the air, even if they argue on camera.
