Meghan Markle is NOT renovating Kensington Palace, despite a ridiculous report. Gossip Cop can correct the false story, which comes from the tabloids.
The allegation can be found in the pages of this week’s National Enquirer, where headlines announce, “Meghan’s A Royal Wrecking Ball! Queen Flips Out As Commoner Sets To Tearing Palace Apart!” That certainly sounds dramatic, and so does the accompanying story. It begins, “Prince Harry’s pushy American gal pal, Meghan Markle, is planning major renovations to the 17th century palace he calls home, and Queen Elizabeth is outraged!”
According to the supermarket tabloid, “The ailing 90-year-old monarch adores grandson Harry, 32, but is struggling to keep a stiff upper lip over his Hollywood honey’s chutzpah.” A so-called “royal aide” is quoted as saying, “This is too much. Much too much. This palace was home to William and Mary of Orange, to Queen Anne, to George the First! Can you imagine the nerve of this cheeky American upstart to come in here and start talking up changes? The queen is not amused.”
The gossip magazine concedes Markle “officially resides in Toronto,” but still alleges she’s “‘set up quarters’ in Harry’s digs at Kensington Palace.” The publication contends the actress has “begun insisting on eco-friendly ‘green’ renovations: airy open rooms, neutral colors and modern glass and metal accessories, and may even seek to knock down walls.”
The National Enquirer may know the names of Kensington Palace’s previous inhabitants, but the outlet doesn’t know what it’s talking about here. Kate Middleton and Prince William only made renovations to the palace after they were already married. Markle, a woman who is not even engaged to Prince Harry, is not unilaterally making changes to the historic residence.
Now, should she and Prince Harry one day wed, they could go through the proper channels and renovate their living quarters. But the notion that Markle is already doing so is patently false and made up. In fact, Gossip Cop already busted the tabloid’s sister outlet, RadarOnline, for first claiming a month ago that Markle was redecorating Kensington Palace. The National Enquirer may have new quotes, but the claims remain just as wrong.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
