Meghan Markle and Prince Harry never moved to Hollywood, despite a report from a year ago claiming they were “headed for the hills.” Gossip Cop busted this false story 365 days ago. Now the passage of time has proven our reporting was correct.

On July 9, 2017, we called out RadarOnline for wrongly alleging Prince Harry was “looking to settle in to his own palace in the Hollywood Hills” with the Los Angeles-raised Markle. “Harry loves America,” asserted the site, “and now that he’s fallen head-over-heels” for Markle, “the couple hopes to make a home of their own in sunny California.” The blog went on to allege, “Prince Harry claims that he can do his job from anywhere in the world, and doesn’t believe it’s fair to ask Markle to give up her acting career in order to move to London with him.”

The website even asked readers, “Do you think Harry is serious about making the move?” Of course, that wasn’t something for fans of the prince to answer. Real media outlets investigate and report; they don’t look to readers for the answers. And there was an inherent flaw in these contentions. The premise was that Prince Harry didn’t want the “Suits” star to “give up her acting career,” so he’d move to L.A. to be with her, but she wasn’t living on the West Coast at the time this tale was peddled.

Aside from the pilot episode, “Suits” has always been filmed in Toronto, and that’s where Markle lived throughout her time as a cast member. So the notion that he wanted to take up residence in L.A., where she didn’t actually live, so she could act was obviously bogus. Gossip Cop explained this 12 months ago, and it’s now apparent our reporting was correct: Prince Harry and Markle never moved to Hollywood.

Ultimately, Markle relocated to England late last year, after she left “Suits” and became engaged to Prince Harry. Now living in Los Angeles is even more out of the question. As E! Online explained last December following Markle’s move to London, she is now seeking British citizenship, and cannot spend more than 270 days outside of the UK in the three years before she formally applies. Given her that her new life as a duchess requires travel for royal duties, she would not be able to do that AND spend extended periods of time in California if she intends to meet the residency stipulation.

So while Markle and Prince Harry can visit the Hollywood Hills, it would be impractical for them to live here. Unfortunately, this phony story from RadarOnline wasn’t an isolated incident. Even since the couple tied the knot in May, the online publication has continued to spread untrue narratives. For example, the site was wrong about Pippa Middleton being not invited to the royal wedding, and its claims last month about Markle regretting marrying Prince Harry were provably false. Gossip Cop will continue to hold the website accountable.
