Meghan Markle Prince Harry Baby

(OK)

Are Meghan Markle and Prince Harry having their baby in America? That’s the premise behind the cover of one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the claim, and it’s absurdly untrue.

According to OK!, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will “welcome their first child together this spring in America.” The repeatedly discredited magazine quotes a so-called “source” as saying, “[Prince Harry’s] royal duties are important to him, but he loves the idea of escaping… and welcoming the baby in sunny, drama-free California.” The same supposed insider points out how the Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, lives in California, before adding, “Meghan will want her mom to be by her side when she gives birth.” Of course, it’s probably easier for Ragland to fly to England to be with her daughter, who’s entering her last trimester, than it is for Markle to completely uproot her life.

Notwithstanding reason, the publication’s seemingly made-up “source” further alleges, the royals have “found an oceanside home to stay in during their time in California.” The magazine also asserts that after Markle told her husband “how great it was to grow up” in California, the redheaded royal was onboard. “He doesn’t see why they couldn’t be based in California and travel back to the U.K. when they need to,” contends the questionable tipster. The tabloid’s almost assuredly phony “source” concludes that while Prince Harry has a “huge amount of respect” for his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, “he’s fully prepared to tell her, ‘Meghan and our baby will always come first.’”

What doesn’t come first or appears to be respected at that publication is accurate reporting about Prince Harry and his family. The tabloid has an abysmal track record when it comes to that. In fact, even before the royal first met Markle in July 2016, the very same outlet was already pushing a false narrative about Prince Harry wanting to move to America and live in Malibu by the ocean.

Then, after they started dating, OK! continued with its storyline about the prince rejecting his title and instead relocating stateside. As a result, the magazine’s cover article about Prince Harry and Markle moving to America was chosen by Gossip Cop as 2017’s most wrong rumor about the couple. Earlier that same year, the tabloid also falsely maintained Prince Harry was leaving the royal family for Markle because the queen allegedly denied his request to wed the American divorcee. Not only did they marry in May 2018, but on their wedding day, Queen Elizabeth announced she had conferred on Prince Harry and Markle the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The following year, the tabloid went on to print more fabricated stories. Once again the magazine earned the dubious distinction of having manufactured the top wrong rumor of 2018 about them when it insisted Prince Harry and Markle were quitting the royal family for the sake of their baby. On the contrary, virtually everything they do, be it their royal tour in the Pacific last October to attending events in the U.K., is entirely on behalf of the monarchy.

Quite significantly, far from heading to California, Prince Harry and Markle are moving to Frogmore Cottage, located on the royal grounds of Windsor Castle. Additionally, it’s been reported Markle and Prince Harry’s child will likely be born at Frimley Park Hospital, near their new home. Nor does it makes sense that they would have their baby in the U.S. when Markle herself is currently working on becoming a British citizen. Irrespective of the tabloid’s pattern of publishing provably untrue stories about Prince Harry and Markle, Gossip Cop still checked in with a Kensington Palace staffer, and when questioned about the magazine’s latest tall tale, it was met with laughter.
