Meghan Markle is not four months pregnant with twin girls, despite a false tabloid cover story. Gossip Cop can debunk the claim. While it’s possible the Duchess of Sussex is expecting a child with Prince Harry, she is not expecting twins, a scenario that that tabloid believe make their stories more interesting.
According to In Touch, Markle got pregnant immediately following her wedding at Windsor Castle in May. An alleged insider tells the magazine, “They got lucky on their honeymoon! They’re so excited.” The supposed source goes on to say that the two girls will be named after Prince Harry’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth and his late mother, Princess Diana. “The baby that is born first will be called Diana, and the second will be Elizabeth,” adds questionable tipster.
The “insider” further contends that it was the queen who “prodded” the newlyweds to start a family right away and Markle “felt a tremendous responsibility to get pregnant.” The source continues, “She was in a state of panic because she didn’t want to disappoint Harry, the queen and the whole royal family.”
From there, the magazine pretends to know how the royal family is reacting to the supposed news of twins. “The queen shed a tear when Harry told her,” says the supposed source, who further claims that Kate Middleton “has pretty much taken her sister-in-law under her wing, telling her what to expect during pregnancy.” The Duchess of Cambridge is also said to be helping Markle design “a $250,000 nursery” and letting her babysit for Prince George and Princess Charlotte to practice her mothering skills. “She’s been turning to Kate for tips on how to deal with balancing royal life with being a mom,” adds the seemingly made-up insider.
The tabloid also maintains that Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, flew from Los Angeles to London on September 15 because “she wants to be with her daughter during this special time.” In reality, Markle’s mom flew to the U.K. to attend the launch of her new cookbook on Thursday, which marked the first major event hosted by the new Duchess. And while it’s rumored that Markle is pregnant, as noted above, Markle is currently not carrying twin girls. Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with a Kensington Palace staffer, who assures us that any pregnancy announcement would come from the royal family, not an American tabloid. UPDATE: On October 15, 2018, Kensington Palace announced that Markle is pregnant with one baby, not twins.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
