Matthew Perry’s friends do not fear he’s fallen off the wagon and only has six months to live, despite a false tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the story. We’ve learned it’s completely untrue.

Last month, the “Friends” star was photographed looking a bit unkempt while taking a stroll through New York City. The actor’s shaggy appearance was enough for the Globe to allege that he’s dying. A supposed source tells the outlet, “People are really concerned he’s abusing pills and drinking again, and that’s a virtual death sentence for someone who’s had as many health issues as he’s had.”

The suspicious insider further contends that Perry has “lost the will to go on,” adding, “Matt has virtually killed himself with all of his vices and health issues over the years and doesn’t seem to be getting better. At this rate, if there isn’t any drastic change, he’ll be dead within six months!”

The suspicious tipster goes on to say that Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox are so alarmed by the actor’s appearance that they tried to stage an intervention, “but he’s shunned them and won’t return their calls.” Perry is also said to be the lone holdout for a potential “Friends” reunion “because of all his problems.” “Matt’s struggled with sobriety and depression over his failing career, and he’s eating himself into oblivion,” adds the seemingly phony source.

The outlet’s dramatic story is based on claims from an anonymous “source,” but Gossip Cop reached out to Perry’s spokesperson, who tells us on the record that it’s all untrue. Despite what the tabloid’s untraceable tipster claims, the actor’s own rep confirms he’s not on the verge of death and his friends don’t believe that to be the case. The magazine’s bogus report was concocted simply because Perry was dressed sloppily while out for a casual walk in New York.

Unfortunately, this wouldn’t be the first time that Gossip Cop has had to call out the Globe for spreading lies about the actor’s well-being. Last September, we busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Aniston was rounding up her “Friends” co-stars to stage an intervention for Perry. That scenario, which is touched up in this latest article, is total fiction.

In February, Gossip Cop corrected a story by the Globe’s sister outlet, RadarOnline, which wrongly reported that Perry was being sent to rehab by Aniston and his other “Friends” co-stars. And last year, the magazine’s other sister publication, the National Enquirer, came up with a similar premise about Perry only having “six months to live.” This ongoing saga surrounding the actor’s health simply isn’t accurate.
