Is Matthew Perry‘s girlfriend, Molly Hurwitz, pregnant with his first child? That’s the story in one of the tabloids, which further maintains that Courteney Cox is throwing a baby shower for her Friends co-star. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we’ve learned the truth.
Just last week, the rumors were confirmed that Perry has been dating Hurwitz, a talent manager, for more than a year. Hurwitz paid tribute to her boyfriend on Valentine’s Day, writing, “Second year being my valentine, but his first as an Instagram influencer,” in reference to the actor recently joining the social media platform. Up until last week, Woman’s Day had never written a single article about Perry’s romance with Hurwitz. But now that she’s made their relationship Instagram official, the magazine is suddenly reporting that she’s pregnant.
“While it’s early days, they’re both over the moon and can’t wait to become parents,” an alleged insider tells the outlet. “He’s credited her with helping clean up his life for good and stay on the straight and narrow – now giving him even more reason with a baby on the way.” From there, the tabloid maintains that Cox “has already offered to throw them a baby shower,” as she’s “overjoyed” for her Friends co-star.
The tabloid’s report is simply ridiculous. Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who assures us that Perry’s girlfriend isn’t pregnant. An individual in Cox’s camp also dismisses the story as nonsense. Here’s what’s really happening: Woman’s Day, along with everyone else, recently learned that Perry has a girlfriend. The tabloid then decided to create a fictional scenario involving a fake pregnancy and a baby shower hosted by one of the Friends.
It should be noted, Us Weekly reported this week that Perry’s pals – including Cox – are hopeful that he’ll settle down with Hurwitz. The publication noted that the actor isn’t living with his girlfriend yet, but they’re headed in that direction. No pregnancy was mentioned. Although Us Weekly isn’t always the most reliable outlet, it was the first outlet to exclusively break the news about Perry’s relationship. The magazine’s reporting is sometimes questionable, but it seems this is a topic it actually has insider knowledge on. And considering that the magazine isn’t always above printing inaccuracies, the fact that no baby was mentioned is even more telling that there’s no baby on the way.
Gossip Cop frequently corrects phony stories about Perry’s love life, but in the past, Cox has been the romantic interest in those bogus articles. For example, OK! wrongly reported in November that a romance was blossoming between Perry and Cox. Not only was the actor dating Hurwitz at the time, but his co-star has been in relationship with rocker Johnny McDaid for several years.
In December, Gossip Cop busted the National Enquirer for falsely claiming Cox told Perry she’d date him if he got sober. That story was also fabricated. Now that the tabloids realize Hurwitz is in the picture, Cox is still part of the narrative, but it’s all taking a weird detour into her organizing an imaginary baby shower.
