Matthew Perry has not been going on dates with women who look like Courteney Cox, despite a made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the bogus story. We’ve learned it’s fabricated.

An article in this week’s National Enquirer, which was later posted by RadarOnline, says the actor has been using dating apps to find women that resemble his former “Friends” co-star. An alleged insider tells the magazine, “Matthew had been swiping on his phone and hooked up with four different girls — all of whom were strikingly similar to Courteney. He even mentioned it to them!”

The questionable source goes on to say that Perry took each date “for Chinese food and then said he wanted things to get physical between them.” On one date, according to the supposed tipster, the actor forced the women to watch all 22 episodes of his 2006-07 series “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.” This claim is absolutely absurd. Each episode of that show is an hour long. Are we really to believe that Perry made his date watch 22 hours of TV before they got “physical”?

It’s worth noting, the tabloid doesn’t really flesh out its phony premise. Is the idea that Perry has always had a crush on Cox? Is it that he wants to relive his “Friends” days by hooking up with women who resemble his TV wife? The magazine doesn’t make it clear. Regardless, the article is based on claims from an anonymous and seemingly nonexistent “insider.” Gossip Cop, however, checked in with the actor’s rep, who tells us on the record that it’s “complete garbage.”

Additionally, the Enquirer has proven to know very little about the actor’s personal life. Gossip Cop busted the magazine earlier this year for wrongly reporting that Perry was developing a romance with Christine Taylor, the estranged wife of Ben Stiller. As time as shown, the two aren’t dating.

In August, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming that Perry only had “six months to live” following surgery to repair a gastrointestinal perforation. In reality, the actor is on the mend. It’s worth noting, this latest article makes no mention of him “dying,” despite that outrageous claim from two months ago.

And just last month, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for making up a story about Jennifer Aniston asking Brad Pitt to help Perry get sober. The tabloid’s many reports about the actor have more in common with fan fiction than anything resembling journalism.
