Matthew McConaughey is frequently at the center of false tabloid stories. Gossip Cop has debunked several inaccurate stories about the actor. Here are five wrong rumors.

Gossip Cop busted Star in February for falsely claiming McConaughey and Victoria Beckham “got flirty” backstage at “Good Morning America” when they both appeared as guests on the show. The outlet alleged that the fashion designer’s marriage to David Beckham was on the verge of ending, so she got close to McConaughey, who was supposedly “very receptive” to her “advances.” The tabloid failed to mention that Victoria raved about her husband during her “GMA” appearance, calling the former soccer star her “soulmate,” a “great husband” and a “fantastic dad.” Meanwhile, a source close to McConaughey called the story “nonsense” and noted that the actor’s wife, Camila Alves, was with him backstage.

Last November, Gossip Cop called out OK! for wrongly reporting that McConaughey’s friendship with Ashton Kutcher was suffering because his wife didn’t get along with Mila Kunis. According to an alleged insider, the two actors hadn’t been hanging out as much because their wives are jealous of each other and have nothing in common. The bogus story was based on claims from an anonymous “source,” but Kunis’ rep assured us on the record that it was all made-up.

Last June, Gossip Cop debunked an OK! story about Anne Hathaway being bothered by McConaughey’s “body odor” while shooting their movie Serenity. The magazine maintained that the actress asked the crew to “burn incense on set” and pleaded with her co-star to shower before they filmed their love scenes. Serenity, however, had wrapped production nearly a year before the article was published.

The phony report came out on the heels of the film’s trailer being released. Meanwhile, McConaughey’s once admitted in an interview that he doesn’t wear deodorant. Those two factors were the catalysts for the magazine concocting its story, which Hathaway’s own spokesperson called “completely made up.”

Gossip Cop also busted RadarOnline last June for alleging Gwyneth Paltrow was “threatened” by McConaughey’s wife and her lifestyle brand, Woman of Today, which shares similarities with the actress’s company, Goop. Not only did Paltrow’s rep deny the story, but the actress previously told Time magazine there’s “no competition” when it comes to other celebrities having their own lifestyle brands. “I want to do everything I can to support their businesses,” the actress said of her peers. Paltrow further noted she finds it “slightly misogynistic” to suggest there’s animosity among women in the same industry.

And finally, Gossip Cop busted OK! back in June 2016 for falsely claiming McConaughey’s wife was accusing him of being an “absentee dad” to their three children. The outlet further contended the spouses were having marriage problems as a result of the actor’s busy schedule. When the story was first published, a source close to Alves told us it was false, and added, “She goes to every movie set with him and brings the kids.” The happy spouses are still together. In fact, Alves opened up about her husband in a recent interview, noting that one of the keys to their successful marriage is that she and McConaughey always make time for each other.
