Matt Damon and Christian Bale are not feuding on the set of their upcoming movie Ford v. Ferrari, despite a completely made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the bogus claim. A spokesperson for both stars confirms it's nonsense.

"Matt & Christian: Tension On Set" reads a headline in the latest issue of Life & Style. The accompanying article says Bale got angry after his co-star supposedly made a joke at his expense while shooting a scene. "Matt messed up one of Christian's shots and said something along the lines of, 'Don't lose it with me. The cameras are still rolling!'" a supposed source tells the magazine.

According to the publication, Damon was referencing Bale's infamous tirade on the set of 2009's Terminator Salvation. As was widely reported at the time, audio was leaked of the actor going on a expletive-filled rant against a crew member who walked into his line of sight during an intense scene.

After Damon supposedly poked fun at the incident, "Christian was not amused, to say the least," says the magazine's alleged insider. "He just glared at Matt and asked to shoot the scene again. They've got a long road ahead of them on this film and it already sounds like a real drag." The seemingly phony tipster adds, "Christian isn't a fan of Matt's on-set antics."

The outlet's premise is coming from an anonymous and seemingly fictional "source," so Gossip Cop checked in with a spokesperson who represents both Damon and Bale. The rep, who's qualified to speak on behalf of both stars, confirms there's no feud between the two. The magazine's article is a work of fiction designed to capitalize on an incident that occurred nearly a decade ago.

It's worth noting, Damon has said very nice things about Bale in the past. When asked in a 2011 interview if he regretted turning down the role that Bale played in The Fighter, he responded, "I look at Christian's performance and go, 'My God, the right actor got the part.'" Meanwhile, the two actors have crossed paths many times over the years at various Hollywood events, so it's not as if they're just getting to know each other on set.

Back in 2011, Damon and Bale were photographed having a lively conversation at the Critics' Choice Awards. Damon and his wife Luciana posed for a photo with Bale and his wife Sibi at a Golden Globes afterparty that same year. And in 2016, Damon and Bale posed together at the Palm Springs Film Festival. Simply put, the actors have known each other for years, so to say they're suddenly at odds doesn't make sense. Regardless, a rep for both actors tells Gossip Cop on the record that the tabloid's story is fabricated.
