Is Matt Damon's wife sick of Ben Affleck hanging out at her house all the time? That's the ridiculous story in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop can correct it.

"Luciana To Matt: Ditch Ben!" reads a headline in the latest issue of Star. The accompanying article claims Damon's wife, Luciana, is getting tired of her husband's friend always being around. "Ben's constantly turning up on school nights or weekends, when Matt and Lucy are supposed to be having couple time," a supposed source tells the outlet.

The alleged insider continues, "He sticks around awkwardly instead of taking a hint and leaving after a couple of hours." The anonymous tipster further contends that Affleck "spends the night pigging out on their sofa, watching sports, ordering pizza and moaning about his personal dramas." The seemingly phony source adds, "There's only so much Lucy will take. She thinks Ben's bad news."

The tabloid's report is total fiction. The one semi-accurate aspect of the piece is that Affleck and Damon have been spending a lot of time together lately. That's because, as a rep for Affleck tells us, they're "writing a script together along with Nicole Holofcener." The three are in fact working on the screenplay for the period drama The Last Duel, in which Affleck and Damon will co-star. It's certainly possible they've met at Damon's house to work on the script, but Affleck isn't showing up unannounced or spending the night "ordering pizza and moaning." Affleck's spokesperson tells us the article is total nonsense, while a source close to Damon confirms it.

Less than two months ago, during an interview on Bill Simmons' podcast, Damon admonished the tabloids for consistently hounding Affleck. The actor also noted that his longtime friend is doing well amid his sobriety struggles. Star clearly didn't get the memo as it's hounding the Gone Girl star yet again.

Gossip Cop busted Star in February 2019 for falsely claiming Affleck's sobriety was causing a rift between him and Damon. The magazine alleged that Damon no longer wanted to hang out with his buddy because he didn't drink. The premise was ludicrous. Damon and Affleck have been lifelong pals, and support each other in all areas of their lives. Damon didn't brush off his childhood friend because they could no longer be "drinking buddies," as the tabloid maintained.

This also isn't the first time we've had to debunk a story about Damon's wife supposedly disliking her husband's friend. In 2018, Gossip Cop called out Star's sister outlet, RadarOnline, for claiming Damon banned Affleck from his life after being pressured to do so by Luciana. This latest take on the subject is more fiction.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
