Mark Wahlberg's wife, Rhea Durham, is not pregnant with their fifth child, despite a false tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the story. We've learned the spouses simply aren't expecting another baby.
"Wahlberg Bumping Up His Brood!" reads a headline in the latest issue of the National Enquirer. The accompanying article says the actor's wife has been spotted "sporting a suspicious round belly" as of late. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "Word is she's already past the three-month mark and due late fall."
The supposed source adds, "She and Mark are keeping things quiet for now, probably because they don't want to jinx anything by announcing the news until she's quite far along. But if the buzz is true, I'm sure they're both thrilled and will welcome a new addition with open arms." It's never a good sign when a tabloid's "insider" isn't actually sure whether or not "the buzz is true."
Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the actor, who wasn't able to speak on the record, but tells us Wahlberg and Durham don't have a fifth child on the way. Earlier this year, Wahlberg was asked in an interview "Extra" if he wants more kids, to which he responded, "I think the only time we ever have that discussion is when they're sleeping, but as soon as they're awake, we realize we have our hands full."
The couple, whose four children range in age from 14 to nine, appear to be done having kids. Whether or not that's the case for certain, we can confirm that the model isn't currently expecting. Last year, Gossip Cop busted the Enquirer's sister outlet, Star, for wrongly reporting that Wahlberg was begging his wife for another baby.
Nearly a decade ago, Wahlberg said he wasn't ruling out having a fifth child, but made a point of noting that Durham wasn't on the same page. "My wife has always wanted four, two boys and two girls, so miraculously she got everything she wanted," he explained. "She's saying she's done." The actor made the comment in a 2010 interview on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" shortly after the birth of his youngest daughter. He hasn't expanded his family since.
This also wouldn't be the first time we've had to correct a bogus story about the actor's marriage. Gossip Cop previously called out the Enquirer's sister publication, OK!, for falsely claiming Wahlberg's so-called "primping" and obsession with his body was driving his wife crazy. This latest article surrounding a fifth baby is more fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
