Mark Harmon is not quitting “NCIS” after 16 seasons, despite an inaccurate tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct the claim. We’ve learned the actor has no plans to leave the show.

According to the Globe, the actor is ready to quit his hit naval drama amid feuds with the cast and crew. An alleged insider tells the magazine, “He’s fed up with ‘NCIS’ and everybody on it.” The supposed source goes on to say that Harmon “won’t be missed” by any of his colleagues, as “he has a reputation as the meanest man in TV.” The questionable tipster adds, “He’s hated by the rest of the cast because he holds grudges and has gotten people fired. He’s a real dictator on the set and sparked a lot of conflicts among his co-workers.”

The outlet doesn’t provide any details about Harmon’s supposed conflict with his current co-stars. It was widely reported last year that one of the reasons former cast member Pauley Perrette left the series was due to a feud with Harmon. The tabloid now contends that the actor is at odds with the rest of the cast as well, but provides zero proof to back up the claim.

Instead, the magazine attempts to back up its premise by noting that Harmon is developing the new CBS crime drama, “Prey.” However, the outlet doesn’t mention that the actor will only serve as an executive producer on the upcoming show. That project won’t interfere with his acting commitments on “NCIS.”

Regardless, the publication’s story is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but Harmon’s own spokesperson confirms the actor isn’t quitting “NCIS.” Despite what the magazine’s seemingly phony insider claims, a rep qualified to speak on Harmon’s behalf says rumors of his departure are “completely false.” It’s safe to say the actor’s spokesperson knows more about his career plans than a tabloid’s so-called “source.” Additionally, the New York Post has similarly confirmed that Harmon won’t be leaving “NCIS.”

It’s worth noting, the tabloids have a history of wrongly reporting that the veteran star of a long-running series plans to quit. The Globe’s sister outlet, the National Enquirer, falsely claimed last year that Mariska Hargitay was leaving “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” to pursue a movie career. Not only is the actress staying on the NBC crime drama, but she’ll be directing an upcoming episode of the show. This latest article regarding Harmon’s future on “NCIS” is similarly baseless.
