Mariah Carey was not tricked into attending her hand and footprints ceremony three hours early at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, despite a new report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this fabricated claim. We’re told the entire story is “untrue.”
According to Star, in an effort to ensure that the sometimes tardy Carey arrived on time to her ceremony at the famed Chinese Theatre, her handlers tricked her into thinking the event was taking place three hours earlier, just to allow for her being late. A so-called “assistant” is quoted as saying, “Mariah is always late, so her team told her to be there at 2 p.m. instead of 5.” But it supposedly “backfired,” alleges the tabloid.
Incredibly, “the singer was punctual” this time around, asserts the magazine. Its supposed “source” contends, “People were shocked when Mariah was actually there at 2, and the event wasn’t ready.” The tabloid’s purported tipster further claims that to cover their tracks, “her handlers said there was a delay and scooted her to a hotel across the street to hang out, and ended up paying thousands for a luxury suite.”
Before Gossip Cop gets to the truth, let’s examine the publication’s story. Clearly, the claim didn’t really come from Carey’s “assistant,” not unless that person was looking to get fired for talking to a tabloid in violation of her employee’s non-disclosure agreements. Also glaring is the fact that the hand and foot imprints ceremony took place on November 1, and only suddenly two weeks later is the often discredited magazine hearing about it. Additionally, how is it that a slew of legitimate outlets reported on Carey’s ceremony at the Chinese’s Theatre and not one of them heard this tall tale?
Since Star claims it was Carey’s handlers who tricked her, Gossip Cop when straight to them to ask about the magazine’s article. In no uncertain terms, a rep for Carey tells us the tabloid’s report is 100 percent “untrue.” The singer’s spokesperson also assures us, “We gave her the correct call time and she was on time.”
Perhaps it’s time for the magazine to stop writing about the singer. Last month, for example, Gossip Cop busted the outlet when it falsely maintained Carey begged Britney Spears to be her personal trainer. Not only did her camp say the claim was “ridiculous,” but Spears insiders also laughed off the report.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
