The tabloids often accuse Margot Robbie of hooking up with her male co-stars, despite the actress being married to producer Tom Ackerley since 2016 and with him since 2013. Gossip Cop has debunked many bogus takes on the topic. Here are just a few.
This premise kicked off in a general way back in March 2018 when Woman's Day falsely claimed Robbie's husband was constantly accusing her of having affairs with her various co-stars. The magazine didn't bother to name any specific co-stars, but maintained that Ackerly's "jealousy is out of control," to the point where their marriage was suffering. The outlet even claimed Robbie was meeting with divorce lawyers. A source close to the situation assured Gossip Cop that the article was total nonsense, and as time has proven, the spouses are still happily married.
In April 2019, Gossip Cop busted Woman's Day for wrongly alleging Leonardo DiCarpio's girlfriend, Camila Morrone, believed he was having an affair with Robbie - his co-star in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and The Wolf of Wall Street. That article didn't even bother to mention that the actress is married, despite suggesting she's a cheater without coming right out and saying it. The story also lacked logic considering that Robbie said in an interview with Porter magazine that she was "barely on set" with DiCaprio as the two don't share many scenes together in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. They had yet to embark on the film's promotional tour back in April, but certainly didn't have any sort of affair in the months that followed.
In June, Star claimed Robbie and Suicide Squad co-star Will Smith had an affair in 2013. The two filmed Focus together more than half a decade ago, and photos of the two goofing off in an on-set photo booth were leaked shortly before the film was released. At the time, several tabloids tried to spin the vaguely racy photos into something that would make Smith divorce his wife, Jada Pinkett, but nothing ever came of it. Star, however, referenced the debacle and implied that the Smiths may have had to work through some loyalty issues as a result.
The tabloid was simply dragging up the old rumors because Pinkett had recently discussed infidelity in her past relationships. However, in the same conversation, she also explicitly stated that there had never been any cheating in her relationship with Smith. Plus, Pinkett laughed off the whole photo incident when it happened. The outlet was just trying to stir up drama by incorrectly pairing the two A-list Suicide Squad members together again.
In July, NW accused Robbie of getting flirty with her DC co-star Robert Pattinson. Earlier this year, Pattinson was announced as the next actor to portray Batman, while Robbie is reprising her role as Harley Quinn in her own film. While the two characters are generally enemies, their actors really hit it off, according to the tabloid. Pattinson, an unnamed source said, had "fallen for her charms" after the two "met up to discuss their involvement in the DC universe" and help each other "with character development and finding ways to dig deep into the whole psyche of it all."
At this point, we'd like to reassert that Robbie is still happily married. Pattinson is also in a relationship with Suki Waterhouse. Furthermore, the two aren't even technically onscreen co-stars, as Harley Quinn is not set to make any appearance in Pattinson's Batman movie. Plus, Robbie's been playing the character for years, so we're not sure what further character developments she needs to work through.
And in August, Gossip Cop busted Life & Style for making up a ridiculous story about Robbie being in a "forbidden romance" with Brad Pitt, her Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-star. That article was just one entry in a collection of bogus articles about the pair, but it took the narrative the furthest by insisting they were falling in love. Pitt's spokesperson dismissed the report as fiction, and it's become clear in the months since that the two aren't together.
All signs point to Robbie's marriage being in great shape. The spouses are set to work together on a number of projects, including Robbie's Barbie film, which Ackerley is producing. The gossip media just enjoys pairing off Robbie with nearly every male co-star currently working on a film with her.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
