Mandy Moore revealed on Tuesday’s “Today” show the lengths to which “This Is Us” is going to keep the circumstances of Jack’s death a secret. Check out the video below!

Before bringing up the most-talked about aspect of the hit NBC drama, Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb suggested Moore has the “hardest” job on the show because she’s portraying both a younger and older Rebecca. But the star herself sees it differently. “I feel like I have the best job,” she told them. “I get to portray this character from age 22 to 67 and everything in between. It’s overwhelming at times because obviously as an actor you want to have all of the answers and know the life that’s been lived. As actors we’re sort of finding out piecemeal, like the audience is. I don’t have all the answers.”

It takes three and a half hours to transform the youthful Moore into the older version of her character, but she admitted, “I’m so used to it now. It’s not a big deal.” What is a big deal is keeping the particulars of Jack’s death under wraps as the series continues to dole out clues, such as the post-fire scene showcased on the season premiere. To film that pivotal plot point, Moore confessed that they kept referring to it as “the marble,” so no one would know what the cast and crew were really talking about.

“Listen, we’ve all been holding on to this secret for like a year and a half now. And when we actually shot that, they built the outside of the house about an hour and a half outside of L.A.,” Moore explained. “All of our signs that normally say ‘TIU’ around town to sort of show the crew where we’re filming, it was a completely different word to throw people off in case someone was being followed to set. I was like, ‘I’ve never been a part of something like this before.'”

The actress went on to discuss the hurtful dynamic explored last week between Rebecca and adult daughter Kate. Moore confessed, “I recognized some of the same behavior that I exhibit towards my own mother, that I can just snap on her for no reason. As you do sometimes with your mom, and then you feel terrible.” She further shared, “I read the script initially and then bawled. I called my mom and was like, ‘I just want to tell you that I love you.’ I think she appreciated the call out of nowhere for no reason.”

The morning show’s hosts also brought up Moore’s engagement to Taylor Goldsmith and asked if having her own children will follow. She happily confirmed that’s the plan, saying, “The show, I feel like, has sort of put me on the speed track for that, too. I’m like, ‘I can’t wait!'” Check out the video below!
