As Gossip Cop has reported, Harvey instantly became one of the season 12 frontrunners when Simon Cowell pushed his Golden Buzzer for the deaf singer during the auditions. At age 19, the aspiring star lost her hearing due to a connective tissue disorder, but uses vibrations and muscle memory to not only still sing, but also play the ukulele. Making her all the more impressive, the 29-year-old also pens her own songs. Harvey performed one titled “Try” for her try-out and then sang another track called “Mara’s Song” for her live quarterfinals performance last month.

All of the judges gave a standing ovation, in addition to doing sign language to signal applause. Cowell seemed to be at a loss for words, telling Harvey, “There is so much I could say to you, Mandy. There’s so much I want to say. But your music, actually, and you says it all. All I’m gonna say is you will make a difference. That was stunning.” Because of the Golden Buzzer advantage, which allowed the contestant to skip the Judge Cuts round, that was actually only her second performance on the reality show. Now she had to give her third, and it would be her only shot of making next week’s finals.

Before taking the stage, Harvey said in her pre-taped opening, “I found such beauty in my new life. I don’t hear the wind but I feel it… I realized my life doesn’t need sound. Music doesn’t need sound. You just need heart.” She cried when adding, “‘AGT’ is a second chance at my dreams… I don’t want to let this moment go.” And then, as expected, the singer pulled off another stunning performance. All of the judges apart from Howie Mandel gave a standing ovation, and Cowell said, “The vocal, the song, the delivery the performance is about as good as I’ve ever seen on one of these shows. It was honestly breathtaking…This reminds me of the first time I ever heard Adele sing. I thought, ‘This girl’s going to be amazing.'”

Mandel said Harvey “transcends hearing” and makes music “more powerful than it is.” Mel B similarly told her, “What you just did right where was so powerful, more powerful than you can ever, ever imagine… It’s just everything and much more.” And Heidi Klum said, “I think this was the perfect song for your voice. I also think this was your best performance yet. And I also love that you used the sign language while singing.” Check out the video below!
