Derulo CMT Awards

Luke Bryan and Jason Derulo celebrated their 2017 CMT Music Awards nomination and win with a joint performance at Wednesday’s ceremony. Check out the video below!

Bryan and Derulo memorably teamed up for an episode of “CMT Crossroads” last year. During that show, the pair performed a new version of Derulo’s “Want To Want Me,” which led to a nomination for CMT Performance of the Year, as announced last month, and now a win as well. As Gossip Cop reported, Bryan also scored nods for Male Video of the Year and Video of the Year, both for “Huntin’, Fishin,’ and Lovin’ Every Day.”

Bryan was one of the first performers announced for this year’s CMT Music Awards, but it was only revealed this week that Derulo would be joining him. During a break at rehearsal on Monday, Derulo said in an interview, “I’m so pumped to be in Nashville. I’m so pumped to be part of the CMTs. It’s a world that I’ve wanted to dive into for a long time. I’m just such a big fan of music and country music, so to be kinda like inducted, like one of the cousins, is really fly.”

The two selected both “Want To Want Me” and “Strip It Down,” another one of their duets from “Crossroads,” for their awards show performance. The latter song was sent to radio in 2015 as the second single from Bryan’s Kill The Lights album, while “Huntin’, Fishin,’ and Lovin’ Every Day” was pegged as the record’s fourth single in 2016. The country superstar is currently getting a lot of airplay for the sixth single, “Fast.”

Heading into the ceremony, Bryan was a four-time CMT Music Awards winner, last taking home a trophy in 2015 until winning Performance of the Year tonight. Perhaps needless to say, but Derulo has not been up for any country music awards before this evening. Watch video of their joint performance below!
