Lori Loughlin is not looking to make millions by turning her prison experience into a book and a movie. Two separate outlets are falsely reporting this story. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can debunk those articles.

The National Enquirer and its online sister publication RadarOnline have identical stories this week alleging Loughlin is demanding “big bucks” for a tell-all book about her prison stint. Both outlets completely ignore the fact that Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, have yet to go to trial for their role in the college admissions cheating scandal, much less have they been convicted or sentenced. That important detail seems to be irrelevant to the outlets.

Loughlin and Giannulli possibly face significant prison time for their part in allegedly paying $500,000 in bribes to help their two daughters get accepted into the University of Southern California. Former Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman has also been implicated in the wide-ranging scandal. Huffman pleaded guilty and was sentenced last month to 14 days, though she has not reported for jail yet. Legal experts predict that if Loughlin is convicted, she could face a much harsher sentence – up to 20 years – because of the circumstances and sum of money involved in her case.

All of that, however, is completely undecided and until it is, Loughlin will is concentrating on her case and not selling a prison story. To sell such a book would essentially be admitting guilt by saying she expects to go to prison for her transgressions. The outlets are making the Full House star out to be a cold-blooded opportunist, but it’s the tabloids that are taking advantage of Loughlin’s situation by running fabricated stories like this one. A source close to the family has confirmed with Gossip Cop that this article is indeed ridiculous.

The National Enquirer has been guilty of false reporting on this case in the past. In August, the magazine incorrectly asserted that Loughlin’s daughters had abandoned her in the wake of the scandal. Nothing could have been further from the truth, as Gossip Cop pointed out when we busted that story. Both of the actress’s daughters have been very public in their support of their mother.

More recently, the Enquirer’s sister publication, the Globe, published a phony article claiming Loughlin was turning on her husband to get a plea deal. That story alleged the actress was angry with Giannulli because she thinks he forced her into their current legal situation. In reality, Loughlin and her husband are staying united through their ordeal. The gossip media simply has no insight into what’s going on with the actress’s legal case.
