Did Lily-Rose Depp really turn down an offer to star in a Pretty Woman remake? That’s the case according to one of this week’s new tabloids, which says the actress passed on the role that made Julia Roberts a star. But Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can exclusively set the record straight.

The 18-year-old model and daughter of Johnny Depp is in the early stages of her acting career, but an article in the latest issue of OK! claims she recently turned down a major role because she deemed it beneath her. A so-called “source” tells the magazine, “There’s a script going around Hollywood for a remake of Pretty Woman and Lily was one of the top actresses in the running. Then she bowed out because she thinks playing a prostitute is too down-market for her.”

The outlet’s dubious insider goes on to say Lily-Rose is more “interested in artistic projects” than big studio films, which factored into her supposed decision to turn down the remake of the classic romantic comedy. “Her dad, Johnny, might encourage her to do something more commercial, but she didn’t talk this decision over with anyone, even him,” adds the questionable source. “She’s being incredibly picky and coming off as a snob!”

But Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the young actress, who exclusively assures us she was never offered the lead in a Pretty Woman remake. In fact, no industry insiders were aware of such a movie being in development. OK!’s “sources” are either woefully misinformed or nonexistent, but there’s simply no truth to any of this.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time we’ve had to debunk a phony article surrounding Depp’s daughter. Gossip Cop previously called out OK!’s sister publication, Star, for falsely claiming Lily-Rose believed her dad’s bitter divorce from Amber Heard “ruined” her chance at a movie career. This latest article is similarly bogus.
