Did Liev Schreiber really confront Billy Crudup about his relationship with the actor’s ex, Naomi Watts? That’s the claim in one of this week’s new tabloids. Get the truth from Gossip Cop.

Schreiber and Watts, who share two young children together, ended their 11-year relationship last year. The actress is reportedly now dating Crudup, her co-star on the new Netflix series “Gypsy.” An article in the latest issue of Star claims the “Ray Donovan” actor recently sat down his ex’s new boyfriend for a “man-to-man” chat about his intentions.

A supposed “source” tells the magazine, “Liev wasn’t surprised one bit. Billy has been a friend of the family for years. And while he thinks Billy is a terrific actor, he’s not playing around when it comes to someone stepping into the role of stepdad to his kids.” The magazine goes on to note how Crudup famously dumped pregnant girlfriend Mary-Louise Parker for Claire Danes in 2003, before quoting its dubious insider as saying, “Liev told him there’d be hell to pay if he ever hurt Naomi. But Billy is genuinely taken with Naomi, and that’s exactly what he told him.”

This all sounds very dramatic, but none of it is true. Gossip Cop is assured by a rep for Schreiber that the actor never confronted Crudup over the situation or warned him not to “hurt” his ex. We’re told the magazine’s claim is completely “false,” which isn’t too surprising, considering we previously busted Star for wrongly reporting Schreiber was dating Minnie Driver’s sister. Gossip Cop also called out the tabloid’s sister publication, the National Enquirer, when it untruthfully claimed last year that Katie Holmes was responsible for tearing apart Schreiber and Watts. This latest article attempting to intertwine the actor in a love triangle with his ex and her new boyfriend is equally baseless.
