Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole's relationship is NOT "strained," despite reports. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the stories.
Picking up the allegation from Now magazine, the Mirror asks in a headline, "Is the strain between pregnant Cheryl and hardworking Liam Payne starting to show?" It's noted that while Payne "has been flitting between the UK and Los Angeles for the last few months as he works on his music," an expectant Cole has been at home in England. The articles wrongly imply the One Direction singer has essentially abandoned her.
The Mirror quotes a so-called "source" from Now as saying, "It hasn't been easy for Cheryl. Liam's been away a lot and she often feels like she's done this pregnancy alone with the support of her family. Liam's been in L.A. recording but he's also been out partying a fair bit and that's not easy for her to see either."
"She's at home, thousands of miles away from him, feeling big and hormonal. It's difficult and has naturally caused some strain between them," adds the tabloid's alleged tipster. But though the British paper picked up the accusations, the Mirror admittedly doesn't know "if the claims are true."
Well, Gossip Cop has learned this depiction of the couple's romance is inaccurate. Payne remains completely devoted to Cole as he works to build his solo career in and out of the studio. His time away from the "X Factor" judge is about supporting his family, and that's something Cole understands.
Payne has every intention of being a hands-on father, and Cole has his support, even as distance might keep them apart at times, as it does for virtually every celebrity couple. Simply put, reps exclusively tell Gossip Cop the "strained" relationship allegations are "untrue." Tellingly, the Mirror has now pulled the article from its website. Earlier this month, Gossip Cop also busted false speculation that Cole had already given birth.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
