As Gossip Cop reported, Ishimoto and Diaz’s hip-hop routine kicked off last week’s “So You Think You Can Dance” with a standing ovation. Ishimoto was thrilled to embrace the style and tap dancer Diaz, who won season 12 of “SYTYCD” in 2015, had a lot more stank that one might expect. Mary Murphy deemed the multifaceted Ishimoto “the Iron Man of this competition,” and Nigel Lythgoe even said the aspiring star is emblematic of the concept he had for the show: Dancers proving they can master multiple genres. In fact, it was Ishimoto’s creative mash-up of contemporary and hip-hop that had many predicted he’d win the whole show from the moment he auditioned.

Of course, the contender still has some serious competition, but it’s getting down to the wire. The Top 6 all had to perform three times over the course of tonight’s broadcast, with the Final Four being revealed at the end of the episode. Next week, the finalists will compete in the performance finale, before the winner is named the following week. But Ishimoto still had to get through this evening’s live show first. And this time around, he and his All-Star partner were assigned the samba, and again they had the lead-off position.

The routine who choreographed by Sasha Farber, who wanted Ishimoto to “man up” and show his sexy, seductive side for the ballroom performance. Rehearsal was challenging for both the contestant and his pro, but the finished performance was pretty fierce. Vanessa Hudgens was on her feet at the end, but it was Mary Murphy who spoke first. “Holy foosballs, that routine was just richoeting all over the floor,” she exclaimed, adding, “It was absolutely terrific. The two of you together, the last 20 seconds for me, were absolutely on fire.”

Lythgoe told the duo, “It was a great show samba. I loved watching it.” Still, he encouraged Ishimoto to take ballroom lessons before he goes on the “SYTYCD” tour. Disagreed Hudgens, “I feel like you don’t even need classes, because it was so outstanding! You guys just murdered that routine!” Check out the video below!
