One of this week's tabloids claims Leslie Mann is ready to dump husband Judd Apatow because he has a "dad bod." The story is completely absurd. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
According to Star, the couple's 21-year marriage is in trouble because the comedy director is getting out of shape. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "She is so fit and health conscious, and thinks it's gross that he's always eating burgers and fries or a fat sandwich from his favorite deli. She's tried to get him on a diet, but he won't listen."
The supposed source further contends that Mann refuses to wear her wedding ring while walking red carpets, which is a tell-tale sign of marriage problems. After noting that the actress went ringless earlier this month at the premiere of her new movie Welcome to Marwen, the "tipster" adds, "Not wearing a ring is a way to show him she's nobody's person but her own."
Here's what the magazine doesn't mention. Apatow accompanied his wife to the premiere of Welcome to Marwen, along with their two daughters. Having her husband by her side on the red carpet is more significant than wearing a piece of jewelry.
The idea that Mann is ready to call off her 21-year marriage over her husband's physique is simply ridiculous. During an appearance on "Live with Kelly and Ryan" last year, the actress noted that she and Apatow went on a detox diet together, and she ended up regretting it. "My husband lost 12 pounds in like a week and a half," Mann said. "He's feeling great and I realized the power I have over his health and mortality. I can make him live longer just by feeding him healthy foods, but I was thinking, 'How much longer though?'" The actress further quipped, "I mean I like him. I want him to live longer... but just not forever." Mann went on to joke that she planned to "add in some saturated fats" to her husband's diet.
During another appearance on "Live" in 2016, Mann had fun while comparing Apatow to her younger love interest in the movie How to Be Single. While talking about her handsome co-star Jake Lacy, the actress said, "He has no hair on his body at all, and it's weird because I've been with the same man for 20 years and he's super hairy and he doesn't work out at all." She went on to describe Apatow as having "a sweet soft body." The actress likes to tease her husband during TV interviews, but she's not ending their decades-long marriage because he has a "dad bod."
Last year, Mann said in an interview with Los Angeles Confidential magazine that she and Apatow "have so much in common and we have a lot to talk about." She added, "We spend a lot of time together, and there's still no shortage of conversation." The actress clearly values her husband for more than his physical appearance. In addition the tabloid's story being ludicrous, it's also based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable "source." Gossip Cop, however, checked in with Apatow's rep, who tells us on the record that it's completely untrue.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
